A Trucker's Life!

Healthy Truckers

Highways of this land roll on forever they seem, Over mountains, valleys, plains and hills of green; For years I've set behind the wheel of a big truck, Something about this kind of life just sort of stuck. Feeling the freedom of the open road, As I roll on along to deliver another load; To reach my destination at the end of the way, Safely and on time is my goal each day.

This life of challenge over the road is not for all, For it requires real dedication to carry the ball; Days and sometimes weeks away from home, Leaving your wife and kids back there all alone. So much more time we would like to spend, With all our loved ones and our many friends; But hauling freight is the choice in life I chose, Always in a battle with time to get it where it goes. Rolling this truck along I see things that many never do,

For through the windshield of life I have a great big view; And it gets awful lonely out here on the road at times, But I think about those I left waiting at the end of the line. I've got an old dog that tags along over in the jump seat, She sounds pretty mean, but she's really quite sweet; We're looking forward to the day when we can retire, But will we be happy off the road and out of the fire? Most likely not and I'll probably drive this old rig til my dying day, And then drive it on up to heaven where there'll be no tolls to pay;

And there'll be no scales to cross, or D.O.T. waiting to pull me in, And I'll never have to fill out a log, or sit in a traffic jam again. But I'll forever cherish my memories of life on the open road, And I'll smell the smoke from the stack as I tug that heavy load; And I wouldn't change a thing about my life as I look in the rear view, For I've lived a satisfying and gratifying life that belongs to an elite few. Trucking on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
