Magnesium
A Harvard meta analysis of 16 studies (over 300,000 subjects) found that 70% - 80% of the U.S. population may be deficient in magnesium, which affects heart function, immune system strength, bone health, blood sugar management and blood pressure. Every .2 incremental increase in magnesium leads to a 30% decrease in cardiovascular disease, and the average beneficial dose is 400mg per day. Some foods containing magnesium include nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, dark green leafy vegetables, rice, oats, and edamame. To maximize health, consider evaluating your intake of magnesium containing foods.
